5 new developments on show at Cityscape Dubai

Cityscape Global has historically been a launchpad for ambitious real estate projects both in Dubai and abroad. This year is no different, as organisers have revealed.

Ahead of the show, which begins tomorrow and runs until Thursday at the Dubai World Trade Centre, we shortlist the five most eye-popping developments to look out for.

The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour

To be unveiled tomorrow, the skyscraper has been designed by
Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls and is the centerpiece of a 6 sq km community close to the Ras Al Khor wildlife sanctuary on Dubai Creek. It aims to recreate the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Pulse and The Villages

Two projects that are part of Dubai South, a 145 sqm city built around Al Maktoum International Airport and the World Expo 2020 site. Both aim to put residents’ happiness first, in what Acting CEO Ahmed Al Ansari describes as a “new and incomparable model of urban living [that] celebrates nature and diverse populations.”

Floating homes

Dutch developer New Living on Water will unveil environmentally sustainable luxury homes based on an organic circular design. With an area of about 16,000 square feet, the futuristic homes are expected to sell for in excess of $11 million.

Bloom Heights

For the more affordable market, Abu Dhabi developer Bloom Properties will display apartments at its new Jumeirah Village Circle project, Bloom Heights. Developers were not able to comment on the project's exact offerings by press deadline.

Camp Nou

And for the cash-strapped football fan, a 500/1 scale model of the new FC Barcelona stadium will be on show in the Middle East for the first time. The €380 million refurbishment project, led by Japanese architectural firm Nikken Sekkei, will be complete by 2021. You mayn't be able to afford it, but looking never killed anyone, eh?
